The results are in! And…. I didn’t do so well. I was expecting to place well in theme (seriously!), fun, and overall, especially from the comments I was getting during the judging. Turns out I pretty much stank it up in these categories, placing 20th theme with an even 4.0, 14th in fun with 3.53, and 22nd in overall with 3.42. The only categories I actually placed in were journal (2nd) and food (5th). :/ Honestly, does this look like a 5th place entry to you? I think not. 
Not to mention my water jug time lapse!
Aside from only placing in categories that don’t matter, I’m kind of disappointed with the judging in general. Maybe my game just caters to one kind of player, but my scores are either all 4s and 5s, or all 2s and 3s. There are a couple in the middle, but most of the scores were one or the other. And PLEASE, a 2 in food? Clearly people aren’t even looking, which casts a pall over the whole thing for me. 
My last complaint I’ll make about it is the judging turn out. There were 71 entries, and I had only 22 ratings (and 2 of them only rated 1 or 2 categories out of TWELVE)… I know people are busy and whatnot, but fuck, I rated EVERY game (that worked on windows and didn’t get DQ’d), and with almost a week to spare.
Okay, my REAL last complaint: trophies. I gave out over 2/3 of the total trophies awarded this compo, and one was given for no good reason by someone who didn’t even compete. Where the hell is the community? Maybe 71 entries is too many and people just stop caring. I’d like to see a sub-contest with judging just from the IRC regulars or something.
