Inconsistency

Today was a very inconsistent day for typing tests. I had a HUGE range between scores, spanning from 83 up to 96. Not really sure where it came from — I just kept taking tests hoping I could sort it out. The text wasn’t particularly hard or easy — one icky passage from alice in wonderland with the kind repeating ‘unimportant–important–unimportant–….’ for a while, but even that isn’t THAT bad. No idea — we will see what happens tomorrow.

Prooty Good

Did pretty good today. Not record setting, but had a solid average and a good high. Much better than yesterday. Had a really low error rate too.

Pffft

I stayed away from the computer today, instead playing the new Mario Kart and finishing Battlestar Galactica Season 4. Typing speed is up from my last day of testing, but still dismal.

A sharp decline

Well, during the last two coding competitions I have felt that my accuracy and typing speed has fallen drastically. Tests after pyweek were not very poor, but today, my first testing day after ludumdare, was terrible. I started with a 78, over 20 WPM down from my highest score, and after a series of low to mid 80s finally finished around 91. Maybe next time I’ll keep testing through the compos…

Back down to 90

I guess the 99 was just a fluke. I took handful of tests today and had a fairly high error rate, despite trying to keep it low, and ended up around 90. Alas, we aren’t up to 100 yet. Going to keep trudging on.

Ken had another good idea for WPMC 2 – full test replays with the burst and cumulative WPM shown. This should be a useful tool to see how you would have done had you not hit that section of quotes or names from the odyssey.

Also, after some work on an IRC bot with some buddies I met through pyweek, I will be seriously revamping the plugin system. I don’t think anyone is out there writing plugins right now anyway, but if you are, try to write them in a way that you can plug your custom code into different structures easily. I’m not sure exactly how I am going to structure the new plugins, but they will almost certainly be incompatible with the old system. Sorry!
