Office Space 5000 is the pyweek 6 entry I created with Jacob Naasz (Mix Tape).
We ended up 7th in the team category, of 30 something. Not nearly as high as I would have liked, but it is pretty good for the amount of linux trouble we had. Only had 9 reviews, probably due to a high linux population, and one of them gave us a ‘Does Not Work’ with all 1s (the lowest score possible), but DIDNT mark it DNW, so we took a HUGE hit in score. His reason for DNW was lame anyway - he didn’t know what Rabbyt was, but it was linked in the readme… Without his 1-1-1, we would have been 4th, not 7th.
Overall we got really good reviews, although a lot of people said the game was too hard. This surprised me greatly, as I was worried it was far too easy. Still, despite the cross platform and judging woes, I’m really happy with how we did. It was a great first try I think, and I’m very excited for next time.
You can check out the list of blog entries I made about the game HERE. I wrote a handy little program before the competition to give me blog titles with the hours counting down, but I somehow messed it up and it was off by an hour for almost the whole thing. Sigh.

About the Game:
- Overview:
You are an assembly-line robot working in a weapons factory/factory. Abused by the boss, you finally snap and go on a rampage, destroying everything. The goal of the game is to cause as much destruction as you can, using weapons from your assembly line and the generally incendiary boxes and barrels littering the area. - Gameplay:
- Weapon Selection:
Each level has a certain set of weapons you can choose from. You can put available weapons on your head and both arms. Additionally you can apply spikes to your torso, which allow you to damage things by smashing into them. The downside is they slow you down. - The Levels:
Each level has a time limit and a target score - if you fill the destruction gauge before time runs out you move to the next level, if not you have to try it again. Some levels are just shoot em ups - you run around bashing and shooting everything you can, while others are more tactical or ’skill’ based, like the maze. It mixes a taste of puzzle game with a moderately standard shmup, with a dash of customization thrown in.
