Welcome

Welcome to Wii® Bowling. This site is a tool that makes it easy for anyone to create, administrate, and particpate in their very own bowling leagues using the bowling game in Wii Sports®. You decide what day of the week your league plays on, how the scoring works (handicapped or not), team size, and more. It's easy to get started - just click on the 'Create New Account' link in the top left and get ready to play!

About

This site was created to provide a way to organize online play for the bowling game in Wii Sports®. There is no foolproof way to ensure fair play, but there are a few things you can do to encourage it (tips for this are listed below). Still, it is essentially the honor system, so be careful who you invite to your league!

How To

To create your own league for you and your friends, login or create a new account using the form in the top left. Once you have an account you can either create a new league or join a league already in progess (if you have to league join password).

Once you are part of a league, you will be able to see the other league members, their running scores, league news, and any 'shouts' other players have posted to your league board. On the day your league 'plays', you will need to find a wii, play a round (or rounds, depending on how your league is set up), and take a picture of your results using a digital camera of some kind. You then upload your picture using the form in the top left of the league screen to save your score to the server. Your picture will be reviewed by other players (and you will have the opportunity to review other people's pictures) to make sure you entered the correct score.

Security Tips

The more security measures you implement, the more work it is to play, so be careful to balance your security attempts against how big of a pain they will be for your members. Here are some suggested ways you can make your league less open to cheating:

1. No Security -- Just play with friends who aren't going to cheat. :)

2. Set a play time window and an upload secret. For example, restrict the time players can upload scores to a very small window, like 30 minutes. Then, at the beginning of the window, set some 'secret' that has to be included in the upload picture for it to count. This can be anything like household items in the picture, but probably the best way is to require all the players to do something specific to their miis like oversized sunglasses, an afro, a certain kind of eye, or even a name change. As long as you change it each week, nobody will be able to set up scores beforehand. However, this can still be beat with some simple photo editing, so don't think it is totally secure.

3. Play with teams and only allow teams on the same Wii and same account. Then require score uploads to be games with all the team players. To cheat this system, ALL the players on the team would have to get a good score at the same time and save that screen until upload time, which is unlikely.
